Respiratory allergy
Respiratory Allergies - a modern and Ayurvedic view of treatment
Respiratory allergies are a common problem that affects many people and manifests in a variety of symptoms including coughing, sneezing, increased mucus production and shortness of breath. These symptoms can lead to deterioration of the quality of life and limitation of daily activities.
Causes
According to modern medicine, respiratory allergies can be caused by a variety of factors, including external allergens such as pollen, dust and animal dander, as well as many internal factors such as smoke, mold and chemicals. Ayurveda focuses on the imbalance of the doshas and their effect on the sensitivity of the immune system. Excessive vata dosha can cause increased sensitivity to allergens, excessive pitta dosha can worsen airway inflammation, and excessive kapha dosha can cause mucus production and airway obstruction.
